Summary


The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in Emergency Medicine at Fairfield general hospital

There are also opportunities for candidates to have additional protected time to develop special interests such as education, simulation, ultrasound or quality improvement work which is over and above the baseline allocations on an individual basis. These new posts offer the opportunity for successful candidates to develop and learn a range of skills in a large and busy hospital.

The successful candidate will be part of the clinical team and will take part in the appropriate shift patterns. Candidate’s rotations will be agreed prior to them commencing and will be tailored to meet their specific training/develop needs.

You will be responsible, under the supervision of the consultant, for the day-to-day care of patients providing an initial assessment and management for an undifferentiated patient population attending the emergency department. You will be expected to play a full part in the relevant departmental rota including working in all areas of the emergency department and the observation unit.



You will work and liaise with the colleagues across the multidisciplinary team to ensure an appropriate, professional, and timely provision of care to patients.



During your post, you will be assigned to both an educational and clinical supervisor and have regular appraisal with help to build your own portfolio. Time will also be allocated to attend local weekly teaching as appropriate. You will be encouraged and expected to participate with other team members in audit and on-going research in the department.



Where appropriate you will also be given study leave and you will be able apply for departmental funds for attendance at courses and professional exams.
