Summary

Are you ready to make a significant impact in the world of digital healthcare?

Following the approval of the Digital Strategy we will be undertaking an ambitious programme of work to deliver a range of state-of-the-art clinical IT solutions across the Trust to fully digitize our patient records and provide clinical staff with fast, simple and controlled access to patient data. This will be supported by a modern fit for purpose infrastructure and links to our Group Hospital partner, North Bristol Trust.

UHBW is on the hunt for an enthusiastic and experienced ACC Clinical Coder. We are mindful of the changing market in Clinical Coding and so can offer the possibility of fully remote working (with the requirement to come on site twice a year as a minimum), a hybrid way of working (part of your time working remotely and part in the office) or full time in the office. Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for assigning diagnostic and procedural clinical codes to reflect key patient information and entering these via the Clinical Coding software into the Trust’s Electronic Patient Record. Therefore, as well as ensuring accurate data quality, you will also play a key role in attracting income into the Trust.

The post holder will be responsible for extracting clinical information from various clinical documents, clinical audit; pathology and radiology systems, and translating the medical terminology used into national codes. The requirement is to produce consistent, accurate, complete and timely coded clinical data to facilitate managers and clinicians in the monitoring, planning and provision of high-quality patient care. The post holder will be part of the Trust’s clinical coding team and will come into contact with a variety of hospital staff around the Trust ranging from medical records and clinical preparation staff searching for and delivering medical records to the clinical coding offices, to doctors and consultants liaising with coders on the appropriate ICD10 and OPCS4 clinical codes that should be used to represent patient care received within the Trust.

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, bringing together a combined workforce of over 13,000 staff and over 100 different clinical services across 10 different sites, serving a core population of more than 500,000 people across South West England. UHBW has been rated by the CQC as ‘Good’ overall and our staff are proud to deliver excellent care to the people of Bristol, Weston and beyond. As a forward- thinking multi-award winning Trust and a digital exemplar committed to improving patient care, our world-leading research and innovations are having a positive local and global impact. Our hospitals are spread across Bristol and Weston, join us and you can enjoy the very best of both worlds; city living within a stone’s throw of the countryside or beside the seaside, both with easy access to all that the South West has to offer. UHBW is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. As an equal opportunities employer actively working towards a diverse workforce we aim to recruit and retain a workforce which represents the rich diversity of the local population at all levels and are committed to designing our services around the needs of individual patients and those around them. Anonymous information will be used from your application in order to ensure we’re meeting our pledge.
