We have an exciting opportunity in the Pathology department at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals for a Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly department.

Are you a qualified Biomedical Scientist - Registered with the HCPC?

Are you passionate about Quality and IT?

Do you hold an accredited Biomedical scientist degree, 2 years' experience working in a laboratory as a Biomedical Scientist, and have a completed Specialist portfolio in any discipline (if HCPC registration attained after 2008)/or equivalent experience/qualifications (If HCPC registration attained previous to 2008)?

Applicants will need to able to work between 9am and 5pm.

The post holders will work in the context of the objectives of the Pathology Directorate and the Blackpool Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist within the laboratory.

The principal duty of the post holder is to support the Quality and IT managers.

The bank Pathology Quality specialist BMS will support the Pathology Quality Manager in developing and implementing systems to promote and encourage continuous improvement in practice within Pathology with relation to quality management, clinical governance and risk management across the Directorate. This also includes services that operate outside of the laboratory environment such as phlebotomy, the mortuary, ADAS and POCT. The post holder will support on the effective implementation of ISO 15189 and the maintenance of the quality management system under these standards. The post holder will support with the change control projects within the department.
