Salary: £25,027.20 per annum

Based at: HMP Swansea

Job Purpose:

The Dyfodol Offender Interventions Service is an integrated partnership provision for South Wales and for the public sector prisons of HMP Cardiff, HMP Swansea and HMP Usk/Prescoed. The aim of the service is to address the causes of drug and/or alcohol related offending and risk of harm to individuals, families, and peers by providing individual and therapeutic group interventions for drug and alcohol related misuse and to reduce the levels of reoffending.

Do you hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care and have experience of working with substance misusers and/or offenders? We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills to organise and deliver recovery focused group sessions within HMP Swansea.

If you meet the criteria listed above and are committed to making a positive difference - we encourage you to apply!

Role Responsibilities:

Facilitate a recovery focused programme addressing the needs of each individual, adhering to Treatment Manual and guidance provided by the Line Manager.
Work collaboratively with service users to meet the needs of the group.
Carry out individual one-to-one sessions and provide advice, information, support, harm minimisation advice, brief and structured interventions in relation to substance misuse and signposting to available/appropriate services in the community.
Provide health awareness to service users.
Provide a range of accurate information on drugs and alcohol and their effects on prisoners along with professionals within the prison which is accessible and meaningful in terms of context, language, and literacy.
Reduce the risk of overdose by providing Naloxone training, advice, and encouragement to service-users to accept Naloxone kits on release from prison.
Maintain accurate client records and collection of information for monitoring and evaluating effectiveness and quality of service.
Organise and manage time effectively to ensure service delivery opportunities are maximised.
Contribute to monitoring and reviewing procedures; ensure quarterly statistics and Key Performance Indicators are achieved.
Work in a non-judgmental, anti-discriminatory way at all times.
Carry out all tasks with professionalism and in line with the agencies policies and procedures.
Develop and maintain excellent relationships across all relevant forums.
Contribute to the achievement of targets and management information as required.
Undertake any other duties that from time to time may be required.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

If you think you might have these skills, but are not 100% sure, please do still apply and let us decide. We know that certain groups rule themselves out of interesting opportunities assuming that others will be more successful, but please don't be that person. We want to hear from the widest cross section of the community.

Adferiad Recovery welcomes applications from everyone with the right to work in the UK, and values diversity in the workplace. All employees are required to act inclusively to encourage, promote, and cultivate our values, (such as rights affirming and cultural diversity).

Working towards becoming a Rights Affirming organisation, we actively encourage applications from people where the Person Specification calls for a particular qualification or experience, we will consider waiving these requirements if an applicant who could not achieve them because of a disability can demonstrate he/she would be capable of performing well in the job and fulfils the criteria in other respects.
