Summary

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Journalism and Scriptwriting Tutor to work with learners with disabilities. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, personalised instruction to students, helping them develop their skills in journalism and scriptwriting. This role requires patience, creativity, and a deep commitment to supporting learners with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs of learners with disabilities.
Employ various teaching strategies and technologies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Integrate practical exercises and real-world applications to enhance learning.

Provide individualised support and feedback to students, helping them to improve their writing and storytelling skills.
Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
Work closely with students to set realistic goals and monitor their progress.

Collaborate with other educators, support staff, and caregivers to ensure a cohesive approach to each student's education.
Participate in meetings and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education and inclusive teaching.

Assess student performance through a variety of methods, including assignments, projects, discussion, observation and participation.
Provide constructive feedback and adjust teaching methods to meet the evolving needs of the students.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and report to relevant stakeholders as required.

Prepare and maintain instructional materials and resources.
Ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Education, or a related field; (advanced degree preferred but not essential).
• Proven experience in teaching journalism and/or scriptwriting, preferably with experience working with learners with disabilities.
• Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and accessibility.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, creativity, and a strong commitment to student success.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification or training in special education (training will be given).
• Experience with assistive technologies and adaptive learning tools.
• Background in professional journalism or scriptwriting.
Working Conditions:
• Part-time position with term-time delivery
• Work is primarily conducted in a classroom setting, with occasional off-site activities.
