Job Description:
Bath and North East Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Family Support Team 2. This temporary position will cover child protection and court work, providing vital services to children and families in need. Key Responsibilities:

Child Protection: Conduct thorough assessments and develop service plans for children in need, children in need of protection, and children looked after, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

Court Work: Manage court-related tasks, including preparing reports, attending court proceedings, and presenting evidence to support the best interests of the child.

Case Management: Handle a caseload that includes children and families with complex needs, requiring multi-agency coordination and intervention.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic client records in accordance with departmental procedures and legal requirements.

Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, other agencies, and service users to ensure effective and accessible communication, contributing to cooperative working across services.

Training and Development: Participate in training and development activities to enhance your skills and knowledge, contributing to personal development plans agreed during performance reviews.

Service Improvement: Assist in ensuring the team’s services are responsive to community needs, promoting equal opportunity and inclusivity in all practices.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday
8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
37 hours per week
Ideal Candidate:

Qualifications: A qualification in social work (Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, CSS) and registration with Social Work England.
Experience: Proven experience in child protection and court work within a child and family setting.
Skills: Strong communication, assessment, and case management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands.
Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, child development, and family dynamics.
