If you enjoy working with numbers and have solid math skills, becoming a Payment Officer is an excellent starting point to launch your career in finance. This is an opportunity to join a wider Finance Team.

As a Payments Officer, you will ensure that all suppliers, partner organisations and service users are paid in a timely fashion and within terms of contract agreements. You will make sure that all payments comply with relevant legislation as well as the Council’s policies and procedures including authorisation and minimising the possibility of fraud whilst offering outstanding customer care at all times.

Crucial qualities include precision and adaptability, along with exceptional communication skills. Your ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues is essential, as well as proficiency in various IT packages, including Microsoft,

Any knowledge of working with financial processes is certainly an advantage, although not essential. You will also be good at resolving problems proactively and you will also be able to use your own initiative.
