Location: Sensor House, Beverley

Hours: 37 hours per week (Full-Time) Agile Working

Contract: Temporary 12 months from appointment

We are currently looking for a Subjects Rights Officer to join the Subject Rights team on a 12 month temporary contract. You will support the force with all matters around data protection, GDPR and information governance. We are looking for somebody who consistently works with high accuracy and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

Provides the necessary advice and support to the Subject Rights Manager and provides advice and assistance on all Data Protection and Freedom of Information matters to the Force.
Represents Humberside Police at meetings, deputising for the Subject Rights Manager, when necessary.
The development of an annual plan to audit both national and force information systems; undertaking audit in a professional manner and reports are provided for prompt action in areas of non-compliance.
Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of legislation, information/developments in Data Protection, GDPR and Freedom of Information legislation.
Ensure the release of information within the force and to the general public is accurate, necessary and proportionate.
Address any potential risk to the force and deal with this effectively to minimise reputational damage and potential fines.
Provide mandatory training and guidance to the force on data protection issues ensuring this is accurate and drive down data breaches.
What the role requires:

Educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent).
Possesses an awareness of the application and principles of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Experience of working in a confidential environment.
Experience of operating computers to input, amend, retrieve and audit information.
Experience of undertaking research/project work.
Excellent written and oral communication skills to be able to communicate at all levels within the force and outside agencies.
Ability to deal with members of the public and senior officers in a professional manner being empathetic in difficult circumstances.
Report writing skills.
