Hours: 37 hours per week (Term Time Only – 40 weeks per year)

The Exciting Role

A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a Physics and Electronics Science Technician.

You will be part of a highly successful team of dedicated subject specialist science technicians who support teaching staff to deliver outstanding practical support to our learners.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Be able to prepare and maintain equipment and resources for BTEC L2 & L3 Science (Physics), A level Physics, BTEC L3 Electrical/Electronic Engineering, L3 T-Levels, L3 AME (apprentices) and NVQ Electrical / Electronics at Nelson site.
  • Set up of practical equipment for student use in laboratories as well as in-session support, fabrication of demo circuits and maintaining electronic equipment
  • Research, design and trial practical’s, as required
  • Set-up and remove equipment in laboratories, as required
  • Clean and maintain equipment and apparatus
  • Assist in practical classes, when required
  • Safe treatment and disposal of materials, including hazardous substances

The successful candidate will be primarily based at Nelson but may be required to travel across sites.

An enthusiastic, knowledgeable, Physics and Electronics specialist who has can work on their own initiative and as part of a wider team. They must be able to prioritise and meet deadlines and have excellent communication and IT skills.
