Summary

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator / Buyer to join a well-established company.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent.
Salary: £32,500 - £41,500 Per Annum, Depending on Experience.
Location: Office Based in Chalk, Gravesend, DA12.
Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm.

About The Role:

Working for a small, family run business, you will be responsible for analysing project specifications, preparing cost estimates, collaborating with contractors to ensure accurate pricing and conducting site visits on occasions. Additionally, you will be responsible for reviewing and updating estimates as needed, and providing support during the bidding process.

As an Estimator/Buyer you will be responsible for managing procurement activities, sourcing and evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. The role holder will also be involved in inventory management, cost analysis, and vendor relationship management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for purchasing goods, materials, and services to ensure the company's operational needs are met efficiently.

Main Responsibilities (But Not Limited Too):

• Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for projects, considering materials, labour, equipment and other related costs.
• Analyse and review tender documents, specifications and drawings to determine project requirements.
• Calculate volumes of material required on projects.
• Writing quotes.
• Identify potential project risks and uncertainties that could impact project costs and timelines.
• Produce and Issue RAMS on work won.
• Understanding of contractual risks in NEC and other forms of infrastructure contracts would be beneficial but not essential.
• To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required/ instructed in order to maintain the quality and services provided by the organization.

Experience / Qualifications needed:

• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting project specifications and drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and alone.
• Prior experience in estimating or a related field is preferred.
• Must have prior experience in the Construction/Concrete industry, preferably Ground engineering.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

The office not reachable by public transport therefore own vehicle is required. Candidate will be required to work on their own as well as within a small team.
