Role Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with SEND, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and can participate fully in college life. This position requires patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on student's lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Support students in various educational activities, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to ensure the needs of students are met.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs as required.
  • Promote independence and confidence in students with SEND.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with special needs, preferably in an educational setting.
  • GCSE Level 2 or above
  • A relevant qualification in special education or a related field is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of various special educational needs and strategies to support them.
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding and health & safety practices.
  • Enhanced DBS on update service or willingness to apply for one
