Temporary Senior Legal Assistant - Legal Services

Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00

This opening assignment is for 6 months

City: EXETER

Basic DBS disclosure required

Provide practical support to solicitors including preparation and maintenance of trial bundles, renewal of orders, dealing with routine correspondence, drafting applications, liaising with witnesses and other administrative tasks that may be assigned - this is for an experienced Senior Legal Assistant within children social work legal department.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with the work of the Legal Services, typically in the following areas:

a. Child care
b. Conveyancing (sales, purchases, leases and associated landlord and tenant matters,
licences, easements etc.)
c. Legal notices and agreements under the Highways Acts
d. Traffic management and other statutory orders
e. Compensation claims arising from road improvement schemes
f. General legal advice to other Directorates on aspects relating to land and other matters
g. Trading Standards prosecutions
h. Pay and Display prosecutions
i. Public Rights of Way issues
j. Adult Social Care


Manage a caseload as allocated relating to any of the above with minimum supervision.

Qualifications:

ILEX Level 3
LPC equivalent

Experience:

Appropriate office experience
Relevant experience in legal work

Skills & Abilities:

Ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the County Council and its partner organisations
Ability to develop creative solutions quickly in response to need
