Summary


This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner to join the CPFT Podiatry Service. The base and locality are flexible to applicant, our core bases: Oak Tree Centre, Huntingdon; Doddington Community Hospital, March; Princess of Wales Hospital, Ely; North Cambs. Hospital, Wisbech; City Care Centre, Peterborough; Chesterton Medical Centre, Cambridge.

Base location for these roles will be East Cambs & Fenland, Huntingdon or Cambridge

The post-holder will work predominantly in their locality but will be required to support the county wide service as needed.

The position is varied in nature working alongside our different Specialist and Advanced Podiatrists in a variety of clinic settings, alongside independent clinics. The candidate will be supported to complete an internal competency programme to develop their skills and knowledge in each area of their role.

This post is open to qualified footcare assistants and current Podiatric Assistant Practitioners or to those new to the field.

Where a candidate is not already qualified for this position, we can offer the post as a Band 3 training position and will support you through the training competencies. On successful completion of the competencies you will then be promoted to Band 4.

Due to the nature of the role being within community healthcare the applicant must have access to a car and be able to drive for work.

To be part of a highly motivated team,the post holder willprovidea range of duties includingthe management ofa caseload providingnail care and footcaretreatment andeducationin community clinicsto a wide range of patientsidentifiedbyPodiatrists as suitable.

Providingclinicalassistanceto theAdvanced Podiatristsforpatientswith active diabetic foot problems includingredressingandapplications of casts undersupervisionfrom the Advanced Podiatrists.

Providingclinicalassistanceand administrative supportto the Specialist Podiatristsin nail surgery clinicsand triage clinics.Assistingwith stock managementand stock ordering.Undertakingadministrative tasks as required to supportpatientcare and service delivery.





The post holderwill be mentored by a Podiatristthrough thecompletionof internal competenciesthat cover all aspects of the job role,including;footcare,debridement,wound management, casting, nail surgeryassisting, triage.


The post holder will work both in support roles and independently in a range of clinic types; Nail Surgery Assisting, Feet Focus footcare clinics, Triage clinic, Casting clinic, Assistant Practitioner Wound Clinics. These clinics are held in specialist hubs across the county and the Assistant will need to travel regularly to support these clinics. Travel mileage expenses outside of base can be claimed to support this travel.

• 1. To complete all Assistant Practitioner clinical competenciesrequiredfor the role; footcare, debridement, casting, wound management, triage, nail surgeryassisting.

1. To provide foot care treatment to adesignatedpatient group asdeterminedbyasenior podiatrist.

1. To work within a variety of clinical settings including multi and single chair community and hospital clinics in both in and outpatient settings across the county, whererequired.

1. To undertake patient screening, prepare patients for treatment by the podiatrist,assistunder the direction of the podiatrist in minor nail surgery and perform and recordappropriate diagnostictests.

1. To work alongside the Podiatrists in the management and treatment of active diabetic foot problems including updatingrecords,taking down dressings,redressing, application of castswheredirected andadministrative support for ordering investigations.

1. To work within the Podiatry team,assistingin podiatry care plans and responsible for aspects involved in the running of the service includingstockordering and audit.

1. To provide any requiredappropriate administrativeduties including completion of clinical record, clinical monitoring and ordering of stock and supplies.
