Summary
We are looking for a full time (37.5 hours) Clinical/Counselling Psychologist for our Children Looked After (CLA) team ‘Connect’ and would welcome applications from soon to be qualified psychologists. The post-holder would be co-located with social care in the Connect team (including CLA, Fostering, Kinship and Court) and be part of the wider Brighter Futures Psychology service, with psychologists embedded across Ealing’s children social care teams including leaving care, adoption and safeguarding.
We recognise that supervision and CPD are important when considering a new role and the post-holder will be trained in Dyadic Developmental Practice, as are all the social workers and fostering social workers in Connect. The post holder will be supported by the Principal Clinical Psychologist for the Brighter Futures and supervised by a Clinical Psychologist (8a) in the Connect Team. There are also a range of CPD opportunities in West London (recent examples include EMDR, ViPP, MBT and NVR) and we are also fortunate to have access to the Local Authority CPD programme. We haveclose links with local training courses; with trainees regularly undertaking placements and would support the post-holder to develop their skills in providing supervision (if desired).Hybrid working is in place and flexible working is supported and common within the team.
The team values are a committed, empathic and trauma-informed approach to the work with Children Looked After, their carers, families and the professional network. The post-holder would support the social work team to sustain skills in key values/approaches that underpin Ealing Local Authority’s ‘Brighter Futures’ model (e.g. attachment/trauma models and mentalisation based approaches). This is achieved through offering consultation and supporting key team structures and processes including reflective group supervision sessions.
This a varied role which offers a mix of both indirect and direct ways of working. Alongside consultation and training to social workers and the network around the child, and parenting group work, the post-holder will be expected to provide a specialist and intensive assessment, support and intervention serviceto support positive change for the children, young people and the carers. This role offers the post-holder opportunities for involvement in service development and to develop leadership skills.
