Summary
Duties include:
Preparation of year-end accounts within our Business Services team.
You will gain exposure to various responsibilities such as accounts preparation, corporation tax computations and VAT returns.
Preparation of accounts for a variety of clients, including limited companies, limited liability partnerships, traditional partnerships and sole traders, weighted towards limited companies and LLP’s.
Prepare bank reconciliations.
Preparing control accounts for VAT, debtor, creditor, payroll and PAYE reconciliations.
Gain experience using bookkeeping software.
Extensive use of Microsoft Excel worksheets.
Assisting with the preparation of financial information and ensuring the accuracy of financial data.
Working within a client-focused environment.
Preparing VAT returns and corporation tax returns would be preferable.
Training
Accounts/Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Level 2.
This level is ideal for existing staff or new talent in accounting and finance. Their work could include basic bookkeeping activities, working with sales and purchase ledgers, running calculations to ensure that records and payments are correct, recording of cash and data entry.
Learners will complete the mandatory AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. The Certificate in Accounting comprises of four exams and an End Point Assessment. You must successfully complete the following:
Introduction to Bookkeeping (ITBK)
Principles of Bookkeeping Control (POBC)
Principles of Costing (PCTN)
Business Environment (BESY)
EPA - In Tray exerciseAn apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate time to off the job training, as well as completing knowledge, skills and behaviours associated with your apprenticeship.
Qualifications required
A Levels.
GCSE's grades 9/A* - 4/C including Maths and English.
Skills required
Microsoft Excel and Word. Good numeracy and literacy skills.
Prospects

Qualification / Standard : ST0608 Accounts or finance assistant
Duration 15 months
