Introduction
The PaCT Team at the House of Commons is responsible for corporate Human Resources strategy and planning. The Team develops HR policies and standards and provides efficient, accurate and customer-focused support to internal customers across the House of Commons.
The PaCT Team at the House of Commons supports the delivery of the House Strategy through a business partner model including a range of operational and specialist teams.
The Role
Payroll and Pensions Services works with all House teams as both customers and colleagues to complete Payroll, Pensions and HR administration.
The post holder is also responsible for identifying and investigating possible errors to ensure accuracy of payroll and pensions data, answering queries or providing ad hoc reports, to ensure business continuity, with all processes carried out within the House and statutory timescales.
Some of the responsibilities for this role include:
- Input staff changes and pay amendments onto the payroll Complete checking reports and reconcile against core data to identify inputting errors.
- Liaise with other HR colleagues, on matters such as pensions changes, sickness recording, statutory maternity leave and absence.
- Liaise with the business to ensure pensions and payroll information is provided within appropriate timescales, for example, staff changes, overtime claims and sickness
- Provide support to the Deputy EPPS Manager in their role as Record Officer and Data Steward for EPPS
- Actively manage their own workload to ensure delivery of a high-quality service in line with the monthly reporting and payroll
Skills and Experience
Criterion 1 - Functional Knowledge and Skills
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of a pensions or payroll function and general knowledge of administration procedures relating to these two functions.
Criterion 2 - Working with People
Ability to work successfully within a team, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion, for example considering different needs of our customers.
Criterion 3 - Planning and Organising
Be able to demonstrate attention to detail, good organisational skills and experience of using an HR and Payroll System.
Criterion 4 - Analysing and Decision Making
To demonstrate a general working knowledge of legislation around data protection and GDPR and how this may apply to payroll and pensions information.
Criterion 5 - Influencing and Persuading
To demonstrate experience of working in a pressurised environment and meeting strict deadlines.
