Summary

SALARY: £38,000 - £42,000 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Covering 2 Sites within the North London area

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 40-45 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7.30am – 6.00pm


JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Senior Nursery Manager with excellent management / supervisory / staff leadership skills, excellent knowledge of the EYFS and child development, who has great planning and organisation skills.

As the Senior Nursery Manager you will be responsible for the general day to day management of childcare provision with two nursery settings. You will lead in developing the ethos, policies ad practice of the nursery with particular regard to ensuring high quality early educations, childcare provision and also integrated community provision.

The Senior Nursery Manager will drive the company to the next level of its business in delivering innovative, bespoke, high-quality experiences for all children and stakeholders, internal and external and will also be responsible for Ofsted inspection of childcare and early education.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Senior Nursery Manager include:

• Ensure the quality and standard of early years education and care is established and constantly monitored

• Lead the Senior Management Team, in undertaking the annual self-evaluation and planning process for the childcare in each of the settings

• Be responsible for the administration, security and organisation of the childcare provision within the nursery

• Be responsible for the monitoring of all children’s progress, identifying individual needs and co-ordinating delivery of services from staff and other professional agencies for children with additional needs

• Be responsible for the childcare Nursery development plan in consultation with all stakeholders

• Promote inclusion for all children

• Lead, manage and support staff effectively on a day-to-day basis

• Be responsible for supervision, performance management and monitoring of childcare staff including annual and mid/end of year performance appraisals

• Develop an appropriate skills-mix across the staff team, leading on the recruitment of childcare staff

• Be jointly responsible for the management of the nursery premises and environment

• Monitor and maintain safe and effective practices including periodic risk assessment of buildings, equipment, and procedures and implement necessary change as soon as possible

• Have key holder responsibility and be available outside of working hours if required by emergency services or council requirements


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Experience

• Ideally qualified to L5/6 (or equivalent) in working with children and young people. Essential: Minimum qualification Level 3

• Management experience/understanding of integrated childcare and education service within the Private Sector

• Financial planning and budgets

• Experience and understanding of Ofsted inspections

• Commitment to continuing professional development

Skills / Ability

• Supervising, motivating and leading staff team

• Receive, understand and convey information and ideas using skills in oral and written communication and presentation

• Teamwork, group work skills

• Time management

• Planning and organisational skills include record keeping

Knowledge

• Recognised Education/Childcare (Early Years) qualification

• Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and child development

• Legislation and procedures relating to childcare and education including; Children’s Act 2006, child protection procedures, SEN code of practice, registration and Ofsted inspections

• Know and understand the relevant policies and procedures for the recruitment, retention and development of staff

• Importance of parental and community involvement

• Understanding of the respective roles of the agencies involved in the support of families

• Requirements of Health & Safety procedures and the principles of Equal Opportunities Policy
