Summary


Applications are invited for an exciting interventional pulmonology fellowship post in the Respiratory Medicine Department atNorth Tees and Hartlepool Foundation Trust. This post is designed for senior respiratory trainee, with a minimum of three years of experience in Respiratory Medicine at registrar level. The objectives are to gain comprehensive training in a wide range of clinical thoracic procedures so as to develop knowledge and skills in the pathways of a state of the art lung cancer diagnostic service. The focus will be on Navigational Peripheral Bronchoscopy including radial EBUS, linear EBUS and pleural interventions including attaining Level 2 competence in Thoracic Ultrasound. The post will also provide an opportunity to participate in the Targeted Lung Health Check across Tees Valley and to undertake a clinical research/audit project in the field of respiratory medicine.

Undertake 3 Lung cancer clinics per week

Attendance at weekly Lung Cancer MDT

Undertake 4 flexible procedure lists per week, with main focus on Peripheral Bronchoscopy and Linear EBUS, as well as Pleural Clinics and fortnightly Thoracoscopy Lists.

Attendance whenever feasible at the targeted Lung Health Check Screen Review Meetings to provide clinical input alongside the Responsible Clinicians

Attendance at monthly Advanced Emphysema MDT

Undertake a clinical research/audit project over the 12 month period

Develop databases and resources to facilitate robust data collection in relation to respiratory procedures

The post-holder will be required to work closely with the Lung Cancer Nurse Specialists and the admin team on a daily basis that will require regular vetting of referrals and support the admin and nursing team.

There will be an expectation to contribute to In Situ Bronchoscopy training and the nursing education within the endoscopy department or Theatres. There will also be opportunity to contribute to the running of regional Bronchoscopy, EBUS and Pleural courses

Take part in educational supervision meetings and annual appraisals (mandatory) carried out by the Educational Supervisor. Appropriate time and assistance will be provided for preparation.

Participate Continuing professional development.

There may be an option to participate in the out of hours medical Registrar on call rota. This will be agreed between the individual and the Educational Supervisor prior to commencement of the post.
