We are looking for a Public Health Apprentice. This is a three-year 3 month fixed term contract in the public team with paid time off to remotely study for a BSc(Hons) degree in Public Health from the University of West England (Bristol). You need to meet the entry criteria for application to the University which includes GCSE Mathematics and English at level 4 or above, or equivalent.
In your time with us you will complete a number of placements with the different sub-teams in order to experience the breadth of public health practice. You will combine work-based learning and study for a public health degree that is funded as part of your apprenticeship in addition to a salary. Upon completion you will also have met the requirements to apply for the professional UK Public Health Registration (UKPHR) as a Public Health Practitioner.
So that you can study we will make sure that you have 6 hours of protected time for learning within your working week.
We will provide you with a public health mentor to support you in developing your public health career, progressing on your degree course and completing the portfolio to qualify as a Public Health Practitioner. You will be supported by the regional network of Public Health apprentices and the council-wide network of apprentices. You will also be supported by a line manager, who will help you settle into the Council and look after you as an employee.
For those not able to work full time, we would ask for a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week. Flexible working hours are available.

The University degree applications must be submitted by mid July and term starts in early September so we can only accept applications from candidates who, if successful, would be able to start employment no later than Monday 2nd September 2024.
