Summary


The role is a new permanent post for a specialist in Gastroenterology to join the existing team across Frimley NHS Foundation Trust. The role consists of primarily working across Wexham Park and Heatherwood hospital. The post holder will be able to work independently to provide general gastroenterology clinical care along with endoscopic services to patients at Frimley NH Foundation Trust. As this is a senior role, with a commensurate salary offer, the post holder would be expected to be fully trained in diagnostic OGD and colonoscopy. There will be an opportunity to develop and deliver subspecialty services and any of these (IBD, nutrition, hepatology, HPB medicine, interventional endoscopy etc) would be considered. A minimum of 12 years medical work since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which 6 years should have been in the relevant speciality. Equivalent years of experience in a relevant speciality from other medical grades including overseas will also be accepted.
• Be responsible for the medical care of patients in the gastroenterology wards, working alongside junior doctors, advances nurse practitioners and consultants.
• Commit to appraisal, revalidation, and personal development in line with the statutory and trust guidelines.
• Assist in developing the service and participate in departmental audit and quality improvement projects.
• Working across multiple sites as per the needs of the service.

• Maintenance of the highest standards in the care of patients with gastroenterology conditions.

• Flexibility of duties is expected i.e. assisting with emergency endoscopy.
• The post holders may also contribute to the out of hours endoscopy rota.
• The post holder will provide service work to maintain either endoscopy and/or clinic waits to comply with national and local targets.
• The post holders will support consultants with the provision of inpatient care to patients on the gastroenterology ward and other acute medical areas where required.
• Where appropriate to participate in the development of research within the service.
• To Facilitate teaching and training within the department.
• Participation and involvement in clinical governance, quality improvement and other business in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy department.
