Bangor University is committed to being a leader in teacher education and educational research. We invite applications for a Lecturer in Education (Teaching and Scholarship) in our teacher education partnership within the School of Education, Bangor University. The role is available at either grade 7 or grade 8 depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
Our integrated vision matches closely to the national direction of travel in Wales on levels of both policy (Our National Mission) and education research (the National Strategy for Education Research and Enquiry). We are an ambitious School of Education with a sustained history of excellence in teaching through the medium of Welsh and English going back to 1858.
Duties will include providing quality, engaging teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and develop teaching materials or methodologies, for example course design or assessment and being module coordinator or contribute to module co-ordination.
Applicants will possess an undergraduate degree and have achieved or be willing to work towards PhD or EdD in a relevant subject area. We are seeking expertise in Teacher Education with additional experience in Leadership, Mentoring and/or Professional Learning. The team supports Initial Teacher Education students in both primary and secondary so lecturers would need to support all phases. Applications are invited from any curriculum area.
The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential. This post will involve supporting students in Welsh medium schools and teaching and marking academic work in the medium of Welsh.
This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.
The post will be available from September 1st, 2024.
This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.
Applications will also be considered to carry out this role on a part-time or job share basis.
Applications will only be accepted via our on-line recruitment website, jobs.bangor.ac.uk.
However, in cases of access issues due to disability, paper application
forms are available by telephoning 01248 383865.
Informal enquiries can be made by contacting: Hazel Wordsworth, Director of Initial Teacher Education, e-mail: hazel.jones@bangor.ac.uk.
Closing date for applications: 21/07/2024
