Crynodeb

Project St Thomas is a pastoral project led by the Catholic community in the District of South Holland, South Lincolnshire, for the people of South Holland in partnership with the local authorities and other community groups that already exist in the area.

Project St Thomas seek to appoint a ‘Project Development Lead’ to oversee the provision of new community facilities in Spalding.

We are seeking a seasoned professional who can demonstrate achievement in project management, community collaboration and communications who will be able to develop this leadership role to its fullest. They will establish and drive the effective development and successful delivery of this new pastoral initiative.

There is no requirement for the job holder to be Catholic/Christian. However, delivery and management of the project is to be underpinned by its Christian ethos and its moral and social teaching.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with the Executive Committee to identify, research and
create/develop social action projects to be delivered from the new premises.
• Manage the ongoing development of services, ensuring strategic
development reflects the needs and any cultural sensitivities of the local
community. 
• Build, develop and maintain positive, effective relationships with appropriate
local authorities, agencies, organisations, and individuals.  Working with
other interdenominational, and relevant non-faith local groups and
organisations.
• Research, identify and develop a funding plan appropriate to the challenges
faced in the South Holland area.
• Work with delivery partners to identify development projects that support the
projects mission objectives.
• Identify appropriate potential funding opportunities which are consistent with
the aims of the project and operating environment.
• Manage and lead identification of, and approaches to relevant funding
bodies
to deliver the identified community initiatives and development of the
premises.

Events and presentations:

• In collaboration with the public relations officer and other local agencies,
develop and manage social action-themed events in St. Norbert’s Community
Hall, situated within the church complex.
• Establish clear communication channels to effectively raise the profile of the
project and its aims; strategically launch and communicate events through
diocesan and social media outlets to reach wider audiences.
• Deliver presentations in St. Norbert’s Community Hall to agencies, stakeholders
and potential partners regarding the project and the identified needs of the
community 
• Engage with local schools and colleges to raise awareness of local social
issues appropriate to their age groups.
• Convene and chair regular meetings with stakeholders, service users and
volunteers as required. 

Volunteers:

• Work in close partnership with Lincolnshire Voluntary Community Services
(LCVS) and other agencies in the recruitment of volunteers.
• Create a positive working environment that is well managed, where dignity at
work is upheld and everyone can thrive. 
• Work in close partnership with LCVS and other agencies to provide suitable
training and workshops for volunteers.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

• Establish, maintain and monitor efficient, effective administrative systems.
• Ensure all statutory financial reporting, funding and contract obligations are
achieved to relevant timescales.
• Prepare submissions for funding, grant aid, contracts, and other initiatives to
achieve relevant timescales.
• Prepare and submit regular evaluation reports on effectiveness, and impact of
success and failure, for continuous improvement, reporting directly to the
Executive Committee. 

Other:

• Regularly update & maintain the project website and all social media outlets
ensuring they are current, interesting, relevant and informative.

Person Specification, Knowledge, Experience & Skills required:

Qualifications and/or experience in the following fields:
• Fundraising
• Community Engagement
• Project Management within voluntary and/or commercial organisations.

Proven track record of community engagement and/or project management in
the voluntary sector

Proven track record of financial management, budget control in a project
management context.

Proven track record of successful income generation within the charitable and/or
commercial sectors

Proven ability to successfully devise and implement strategic development and
resource plans, particularly in the area of service and volunteer development.

Effectively lead and contribute to a team, including identifying and developing
ideas and opportunities for improvement, making day to day decisions on the
efficient running of the project.

Present information coherently, accurately and persuasively making sure it is
accessible to audiences at all levels.

Influence external change, build and maintain strong relationships of trust with all
project stake holders, including the Diocese, funding bodies and commercial
customers.

Effectively engage and influence people at all levels

Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office

Excellent data analysis and reporting skills

Be able to work equally well as part of a small team and independently


Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise, meet
deadlines and handle pressure.

Committed to engaging and working with others collaboratively to bring the
project to fruition

Work with complete discretion and confidentiality.

Other:

Due to the nature of the role which may incur some travel, the successful
applicant must have a current driver’s licence and have full access to a car.
