International Logistics Centre, Langley, Slough, SL3 8AQ
Royal Mail International Operations, based at the International Logistics Centre, processes imports from Europe to strict customs and aviation security specifications. To support the smooth running of the operation, we have a vacancy for a Section Operations Manager who is responsible for the operations across a section, the achievement of quality, financial, automation and employee targets and ensuring compliance with DfT , aviation security and customs requirements.

The roleAs Section Operations Manager, you’ll lead a team of managerial and frontline employees to achieve the scorecard targets and Health & Safety compliance for the section, creating a working environment where front line managers take responsibility for safety and wellbeing in accordance with continuous improvement principles.
You’ll lead the deployment of change across the section, using a project management approach, including stakeholder management, communications, tracking of progress to transform efficiency and customer service.As part of your Line Manager responsibilities (4 managers/70 frontline staff), you’ll coach, develop and support the teams to achieve a high level of personal and team performance and be responsible for 2nd/3rd line level HR processes e.g. conduct and attendance.
Other Accountabilities


- Act as the safety lead and conduct risk assessments, ensuring safe systems of work are in place and processes are compliant with safety requirements.
- Budget responsibility and driving the achievement of targets for the scorecard areas.
- Develop the operating plan to include optimum resource requirements against forecast workload.
- Work with Ops Control and the Engineering team leads to maximize the volumes of automated mail and to drive improvements in machine performance.
- Asset management
- integrates using the Production Control System (PCS), Computer Aided Post using EDI, tipping functionality including pallet tippers, anti-smuggling operation, customs declaration system.


About you
You need to demonstrate the following skills and experience on your CV:


- Stakeholder management at senior manager level with the ability to build effective relationships with a range of senior stakeholders to achieve business benefit.
- Experience of leading a team at 2nd line manager level.
- Proven experience of successfully running a large operation – achieving targets across a range of scorecard measures.
- Planning skills/project management.
- Experience of deploying major change and successfully leading people through change.
- Data analysis and problem solving, identify trends and develop solutions.
