Waterman Primary School, located in Rochford, Essex is a proud member of the HEARTS Academy Trust. We are a small school with a tight-knit community and a real 'family feel’ that values, nurtures and cares for all children in our school. We place great pride in really getting to know each and every one of our pupils.

Our school caters for pupils from Nursery to Year 6. Our site boasts a very large outdoor area and beautiful grounds which the children get to experience daily, which includes our very own heated swimming pool. Our curriculum is ambitious and aspirational - we want the best for all our children - and it is centred on our HEARTS values.

You can find further information about our curriculum and 'life at Waterman' by visiting our website: https://www.hearts-waterman.uk/

Waterman Primary School currently owns and operates a bespoke, purpose-built heated indoor swimming pool, on site - a fantastic newly built facility.

To further expand this growing provision, we are looking to recruit a qualified Swimming Instructor to work with our Swimming Lead Instructor and Pool Manager in delivering quality lessons to a wide range of ages, abilities and disabilities.

As Swimming Instructor, you will be responsible for:

• assisting with the development of a bespoke, HEARTS swim school
• coaching and assisting in the development of swimmers across our Trust and wider provision, teaching swimming lessons, ensuring all pupils' experience is a positive and enjoyable one
• Following ASA Duckling awards, ASA NPTS and Birthlight schemes
• coaching the swimming provision outside of the school curriculum (ie. evenings, weekends, holiday/term breaks)
• assisting the Swimming Lead Instructor and Pool Manager with basic pool maintenance and hygiene; ensuring all compliance documentation is adhered to

Previous experience as a swimming coach / teacher / instructor is essential for this role along with a Level 2 ASA Swimming Teachers / Coaching certificate as well as a current Rescue Test for Teacher(NRASTC) and/or National Pool and Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).

The successful applicant will need knowledge of the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme for teaching swimming skills, techniques and awards. Knowledge of health, safety and other relevant legislation will be vital too, as will an understanding of our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policies. Preferable wider-experience would be valued, such as Swim England Teaching for Babies and Toddlers, STA Baby & Preschool or Birthlight Baby & Toddler qualifications.

Our vision is to have a fully-functioning swim school with swimming lessons happening daily, on site, open to both schools within and outside HEARTS Academy Trust as well as across the wider Rochford community. We want to build a provision that caters for specialist swimmers (ie. pupils with SEND and/or physical/mental impairments and or other disabilities), baby and toddler groups, competitive swimmers, with ages ranging from 6 months plus. We want our pool to be a hub of the local community, used and cherished by all - from school swimming lessons to after school and community clubs. The Swimming Instructor will therefore be instrumental in helping us achieve a successful swimming provision, that matches our vision and ethos and really places Waterman Pool at the HEART of our local community.
