Summary

Nature of the job role: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal
Assistant (PA) to provide comprehensive support to a disabled individual diagnosed with
motor neurone disease. As a PA, you will play a crucial role in assisting with daily activities
and helping to enhance quality of life. The ideal candidate will be reliable, empathetic, and
adaptable, with a strong commitment to providing personalised care and support.
Main Duties:
● Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and
toileting - As a previous hairdresser for 30 years, takes pride in having hair styled
and always looking highly presentable
● Provide mobility assistance, including transferring to and from wheelchair, bed, or
other surfaces.
● Administer medications as prescribed
● Accompany the client to medical and dental appointments and provide assistance
as required.
● Support with household tasks such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, and
laundry.
● Assist with transportation needs, including driving or arranging for transportation.
● Provide companionship and emotional support, engaging in conversation.
● Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of the client at all times.
● Follow care plans and instructions provided by healthcare professionals and family
members.
● Any other reasonable duties that may be necessary within reason
Skills & Experience:
● Previous experience working as a personal care assistant or similar role preferred.
● Basic knowledge of Motor Neurone Disease (MND/ALS) issues and experience
working with individuals with disabilities.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and
trust.
● Patience, empathy, and a compassionate demeanour.
● Reliable and punctual, with the ability to maintain a flexible schedule.
● Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
● Valid driver's license and clean driving record
