Summary
We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our wellintegratedteam. Thispost isdesignedtosupport the children’s orthopaedic team while it’s most senior surgeon is involved in a management role. Thesuccessfulcandidatewilljoinateamof11 Consultants providing comprehensive orthopaedic trauma services at the Major Trauma Centre, at the Royal VictoriaInfirmary, and will also be part of the children’s orthopaedic team at RVI / Great North Children’s Hospital.
· Thesuccessfulcandidatewilljointheexistingorthopaedictrauma‘on-call’rotaattheRoyalVictoriaInfirmary.ThiswillinvolvemakingupateamofthreeConsultants,eachdoingone‘on-call’weekday(duringwhichtheteam fracture clinics takeplace) every threeweeks,followed byan all-daytraumalistonthefollowing day. In addition, the successful candidate will be ‘on-call’ for orthopaedic trauma oneweekendin12.
· The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop a special interest in children’s upper limb surgery,tocomplementtheexistingsurgeonswithintheteam.
· The successful candidate will be required to provide an elective surgery service Royal Victoria Infirmary.
· Participateinaudit andclinicalgovernance.
· Showacommitmenttocontinuingprofessionaldevelopment.
· Participateinannualappraisal(forrevalidation)andintheannualjob planningprocess.
· Work with and support all members of the clinical team in the Emergency Department, in out-patient andfractureclinics,intheoperatingtheatresandonthewards.
