Summary


We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated nurse with an interest in Endocrinology to join our established multidisciplinary team to help deliver high quality endocrine care to patients and healthcare professionals within the Trust.

The post-holder will deliver an endocrine investigation service and provide evidence-based care to patients with chronic endocrine conditions with responsibility for an outpatient caseload including independent prescribing within a defined scope of practice. The post-holder will liaise with colleagues across the primary-secondary care interface to support safe and efficient care.

Applicants are expected to be registered on Part 1 of the NMC register and ideally hold NMP (non-medical prescribing) status. Prior experience and accredited CPD in endocrinology and evidence of knowledge and independent working in this speciality will be viewed favourably. Support will be provided in-post for continuing professional development including training to ensure appropriate competencies, as outlined in Society for Endocrinology endocrine nursing competency framework.

Work with a high degree of autonomy, within agreed guidelines and scope of practice to provide high quality, evidenced based advice to outpatients with stable endocrine conditions including, but not limited to, thyroid virtual clinic and nurse led adrenal incidentaloma clinic.

Undertake patient encounters as combination of face to face and virtual
patient reviews for individuals on caseload. Maintain clinical responsibility,
within area of expertise, for patients on caseload in conjunction with consultant support and regular MDT meetings.

Keep accurate contemporaneous written and electronic documentation of
patient encounters, care plans and reports in accordance with information
governance principles.

Act as a role model in expert practice facilitating and supporting the delivery of effective patient care.

The post holder may be asked to work flexibly within a 6-day working week in conjunction with colleagues.

• Participate and contribute to consultant led multidisciplinary meetings and clinical governance.
• Facilitate and participate in Trust wide groups that require specialist nurse input.
• Provide appropriate and consistent professional advice to other senior members of the care team, acting as a point of contact in times of difficulty and when support is required.
• Identify and promote areas for practice development, including guidelines and procedures to support the delivery of care. Ensure that nursing care is evidence based.
• Adhere to strict compliance with Trust Infection Control policies and
procedures and ensure junior staff and learners are aware of their
responsibility, observe staff practice and advise/educate as necessary.
• Work in partnership with multidisciplinary colleagues and act in an expert advisory capacity to departmental colleagues and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
