Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join a small team working as a Linen Operative within the Trust. In this role you will be supporting the Linen and Uniform functions for the Trust , providing an invaluable behind the scenes service.
We are looking for a highly motivated person who can work as part of a Team, but also has the ability to work independently and is driven to provide a professional service. Good communication and customer service skills are paramount, to ensure the service is run effectively and efficiently.
The role holder will be part of the Linen Team and will assist with the receipt, loading and delivery of linen to all departments / wards across the Trust. They will assist in a patient focused environment to deliver a prompt and efficient service.
1. The role holder will need to fully understand agreed processes and to operate efficiently and effectively within these guidelines.
2. To be aware of the Linen team daily rota and to work within the set timings as laid down in the rota, including Saturdays and Bank Holidays.
3. To provide a put-away service to wards and departments as per the agreed timetable and in line with agreed wards and department levels, and to maintain daily detailed records of levels held and additional stocks required, highlighting consistent stock shortfalls/surpluses.
4. To load cages with linen for distribution around the Trust against agreed ward and department levels based on current usage.
5. To work in a manner which meets fully all the requirements of the BSEN 14065 HTM 01-04 and ISO Quality Standard and all relevant GWH policies and procedures relating to control of infection, COSHH and Health and Safety.

1. To check and reconcile all linen deliveries received by the Trust against daily delivery sheets. Notify the linen service provider of any shortages.
2. To spot check clean linen received to ensure stained or torn linen is removed from service.
3. Contact the linen service provider to request additional/cancellation of stock requirements within the agreed timescales.
4. Input stock details into daily spread sheets on both excel and word databases ensuring accuracy.
5. To ensure that contingency stock levels are maintained and any shortages recorded.
6. To complete the appropriate paperwork for sending hospital items (RTS) to the linen service provider and to check the items back in on return.
7. To ensure that the linen room is restocked and is kept clean and tidy in accordance with Trust guidelines and procedures.
8. To help and support in ordering and distributing uniform across the Trust and support in offering uniform advice as and when required.
9. Responsible to planning of own workload schedules to support areas of responsibility and colleagues as and when required or as requested by Linen and Uniform Team Leader.
10. Ensure a prompt and courteous response to customer enquiries. Be responsible for actions taken.
11. Be responsible for being available via the paging system at any time throughout the working day and responding appropriately using sound judgement to satisfy the requirements of the customer.
12. Use own initiative when dealing with enquiries; ensuring legal guidelines are adhered to in respect of confidentiality and freedom of information.
13. To comply with all statutory regulations, procedures, Trust standing orders, standing financial instructions and Trust policies in general.
14. To attend all mandatory Trust and department training as and when required.
15. Undertake any other tasks, in addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, as directed by the EFM Management personnel.
