Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Orthopaedic Therapy Team as a Band 6 Physiotherapist. This role will be based between Blackpool Victoria Hospital and Clifton Hospital. The successful candidate will join a well established team treating patients within the acute orthopaedic wards at Blackpool Victoria Hospital and rehabilitation wards at Clifton Hospital.

The post holder will develop their skills in the treatment of and assessment of patients following traumatic orthopaedic injury/surgery as well as those on the elective and day case pathways. Successful candidates will also be expected to continue to contribute to the rehabilitation of patients at Clifton Hospital.

The team has a strong commitment to working collaboratively with all members of a wide MDT to provide high quality care to patients. this role will involve working within an integrated therapy team.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire and operates within a regional health economy catchment area that spans Lancashire and South Cumbria. To play a key role in the provision of a high-quality physiotherapy within the Orthopaedic Therapy Team. This will include pre-operative, post-operative, conservative and rehabilitation management of orthopaedic patients.

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

To hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

Supervise, educate and assess the performance of junior physiotherapists, assistants and students.

Supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.

Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and the teams clinical practice within each rotation. Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager of service for changes to practice by the team. May lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.
