Summary

Support and ensure the improvement and development of the Wholesale based stock and sales systems, processes, and reports, ensuring they are working to maximum efficiency with good financial controls.

You will have the ability to assist in assembling the business-related expertise as the dynamic primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders by using your expertise and experience of project management processes. You must be aware of the urgency with which you must move to meet clients needs for the applications.

You will be expected to have some technical experience in Linux, Java, COBOL and SQL which you will use to assist in your BAU application support.

  • Build an understanding of how the business operates – strategic objectives, key business initiatives, departmental structure, functions, processes, procedures, and current application functionality.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships and effective communication levels with stakeholders, including key users throughout the business and external suppliers.
  • Identify potential system solutions to business needs whilst ensuring a close fit exists between business needs and technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit and document detailed business requirements in the form of a detailed strategic, business, and functional requirement specification set.
  • Analyse business requirements to fully understand business processes, goals, and challenges for future versions.
  • Oversee the planning, development, testing, implementation and tracking of IT Projects from initiation to completion.
  • Post deployment, act as liaison and monitor system uptake whilst providing support to Operational and IT teams to ensure systems are being used as specified. Ensure incidents are acknowledged, updated, and resolved within the defined SLA.
  • Provide ongoing functional and technical support for business applications and infrastructure.
  • Experience of projects involving multiple business units / user communities that involve a significant element of business change.
  • The ability to form functional specifications for use by other team members.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a simple manner.
  • Excellent functional understanding of systems across of a variety of business areas and technical implementations.
  • Experience/exposure of software development methodology e.g. Agile.
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques and methodologies to define business problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • A good understanding of available and emerging IT technologies.
  • Capable of dealing with conflicting priorities between different specialist groups within a fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Excellent communication showing the ability to communicate effectively at various levels within the organisation, including senior management, operations personnel, and customers.
  • Experience in Linux, Java, COBOL and SQL.
  • Experience of providing technical support for business applications and infrastructures.
