Summary

Our Client in Kingswood is looking for a Housing Options Advisor. This role you will support the delivery of statutory duties to provide front-line housing advice and homelessness services to those seeking a home in South Gloucestershire.

The post holder will conduct the assessment of all the customers approaching for housing advice and in housing need. They will identify those coming under the homelessness provision including the assessment of an applicants eligibility under homelessness legislation and hold caseload.

The post holder must be vigilant to safeguarding issues and must make referrals as appropriate when there are any concerns about the safety or welfare of any adult or child. They will be accountable for keeping accurate and up to date records and update systems as required. The post holder is expected to carry out home visits to customers where appropriate.

You will need an enhanced DBS.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

- You will have experience of working in a relevant specialist environment and ideally be working towards a professional or technical qualification or already be part qualified

- You will have experience of using policies, procedures, processes, legislation and codes of practice in a similar service area.

-You will demonstrate knowledge in the use of appropriate software packages including in house systems.

- You will be able to take necessary corrective action or identify issues that need to be escalated.

- You will have experience of working in a housing, homelessness, or related environment and ideally have, or be working towards, a professional/technical qualification

Qualification's -

- Demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation including Housing Act 1996 Part VII, landlord and tenant law and civil procedures and of working within rehousing policies.

- An ability to carry out financial assessments related to housing options and have proven IT skills in using databases, Microsoft Office, the internet and electronic mailing.

- Demonstrate a working understanding of housing remedies and good experience of delivering housing access and homelessness services to vulnerable people and minority groups.
