Summary


Technician will undertake decontamination science duties and assist (under supervision) the workforce of Decontamination Technician Supervisors, in providing a specialised decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient.



To carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and sterilization of reusable medical devices and record every step on tracking and tracing system.



Ensure the safe decontamination of reusable medical devices by working with accordance with the departmental work instructions and quality management system.

Communication

Report to a senior colleague any failure with capital equipment as soon as it is identified in order that it is repaired as soon as possible.

To communicate with enquires from users and other members of healthcare staff in polite and helpful manner, seeking scientific advice when required.



To pass any key messages from service users to decontamination supervisor, refer appropriate issues and to raise uncertainties with senior staff and informing them of any raw material shortages.

Analytical and Planning

Learn to operate all capital equipment helping to achieve decontamination cycle.

To reprocess reusable medical devices, disassemble, clean, disinfect, check, assemble, sterilise, dispatch and track and trace each step.



Clinical Duties

To assist with any enquiries from service users.

To ensure that all Trust policies and procedures are adhered to.



Liaise with the supervisor or senior member to discuss any issues that might affect the patient safety.
