Summary


Ward C6 is a 25 bedded acute medical ward with a particular interest in Respiratory Medicine. The ward has three general physicians who specialise in Respiratory Medicine
As a band 6 Sister you will be responsible on a day to day basis for coordinating the shifts, providing care and support for patients with general medical and respiratory conditions, and supporting the team to deliver excellent care and supervising junior members of the ward team.
You will need to have an interest in improving the patient experience and demonstrate excellent communication skills and develop effective working relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
You will be expected to take on additional duties to support the ward manager including e-rostering, reviewing and investigating incident reports, undertaking personal development reviews, and mandatory monthly audits to monitor quality care on the ward.

We work closely with the respiratory nurses and the respiratory assessment unit. And there will be opportunities for you to enhance your understanding of respiratory conditions.
A flexible approach and the ability to respond to the demands of a rapidly changing acute clinical environment are also essential



The post is offered on a contract of 36hours per week and requires flexible working patterns to meet the need of the service. This includes weekends, bank holidays and rotation to nights as required.

• Participate in the overall management of the ward including nights in conjunction with the Ward manager.
• Support the Ward Manager in the education and training of ward staff.
• Promote delivery of high quality research based nursing care.
• Participate in the implementation and monitoring of programmes of care.
• Responsible for promoting effective and efficient utilisation of available resources.
• To facilitate an environment conductive to learning and professional development.
• Ensure that Trust policies and directives are adhered to at Ward level.
• Act in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Code of Conduct (NMC)
