Summary

We have an opportunity for a new colleague to join our People team. We are looking for someone to partner our managers in supporting our greatest asset, our people.

We are a four colleague People team, and we don’t just provide support. We lead and drive positive change and we make sure our people are looked after so that they are equipped and supported to do their jobs and achieve best possible results for the young people we support. To achieve this, our People team has to be knowledgeable, creative, efficient and effective.

Please find full details of how to apply via our website in the advert below. The deadline for application submissions is 23:59, Sunday 30 June 2024.

Who are we?
We are a leading youth homelessness charity based in the Southwest, working with over 1,500 young people. At 1625ip we are driven by Social Justice and Passion: we strive to do something that matters and take pride in seeing the results of our work in social outcomes and improving young people’s lives.

What you will be doing:
• With a good grasp of employment law and analytical thinking, you will use that knowledge to provide creative solutions in employee relations matters by supporting and guiding our full management team on all their people matters, encompassing the full range of queries which arise throughout the employment cycle e.g., ill health, T&Cs, performance, flexible working etc.
• Being super organised and proactive, you will respond well to pressure and change, so when, for example, you have set aside half a day for reporting but then a manager needs your support with an unexpected situation, you will adjust your plans and prioritise accordingly.
• Being people focused, by which we mean, you are thinking about ‘people’ in all that you do, you will underpin your work with the question ‘is this going to make things better?’ so for example, when you are revising a policy or a process, you will consider how you can make sure that the changes you are making are equitable and inclusive.
• By striving to make a positive difference to the working lives of others, you will conduct your work with a sense of professionalism, empathy and humour, so for example, when you are advising a manager who is supporting someone in their team with ill health, you will do this without judgement.
• By communicating well and influencing others through coaching, you will build strong relationships so for example, when you are working with a manager who is inexperienced in managing others, you will guide them towards finding their own solutions.
• Being committed to your work; you will take accountability and problem solve creatively so for example, when you are advising on a complex scenario, you will reach for the less obvious solutions.

You will be in the People team and your line manager will be our People Director.
