We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and compassionate Principal Teacher to join the team at Dean Park Primary School. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has leadership experience and is looking to play a key role within our strong Senior Leadership Team.

Dean Park Primary School serves the village of Balerno. The school roll is currently 501 pupils in the main building and we have capacity for 88 full time pupils in our nursery. We have a clear vision at Dean Park: to create a learning environment in which everyone can flourish. This vision is lived and breathed around our school community and underpins everything we do.

Key strengths of the school include our excellent support for pupils, our inclusive practices, consistent approaches to learning, teaching and assessment and the very positive partnerships we enjoy in our local community. Our refreshed curriculum is place-based and makes the most of our beautiful surroundings. Our pupils are very enthusiastic, hardworking and relationships across the school are very positive. Our parent body are highly engaged and very supportive of our work. In November 2023 we had an extremely positive follow up HMIE inspection and continue to be focussed on improving outcomes for children and families in our improvement journey.

  • Have a sound knowledge of the current policy context underpinning Early Years practice
  •  Support and challenge staff to ensure the highest quality experiences for all children, including children with Additional Support Needs
  •  Work within the dynamic SLT to facilitate school improvement

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
