The Role
As a Global Technology Director, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The scope of the Global Technology Director role is to lead the Babcock International Group (BIG) Technology Programme for the purpose of; Protecting the current business against the impact of disruptive technologies, improving our offerings to customers in our current markets, accessing new markets to grow the business and improving business operations.

Day-to-day, you'll manage and coordinate a seed corn funding program for the investigation of new technologies. Engaging with the Strategy and Future business team to; Provide advice on the impact of technology strategy and future opportunities and understand the strategy and future direction / opportunity pipeline in order to help focus technology activities.

Further responsibilities include:

  • Engagement with the DRC and Sector Engineering Directors, Technology Directors and Domain Engineering Managers to understand what technologies could help improve the products and services that Babcock is contracted to deliver
  • Engage with the relevant business units across the global Babcock business as required to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology between DRCs and Sectors
  • Support the Global Engineering Integrity Director in providing technical governance and assurance across all activities that involve advanced technologies
  • Support the Global Engineering Capability Director in identifying engineering capability requirements for the introduction of new technologies

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements

Essential experience of the Global Technology Director:

  • Significant experience in managing engineering teams and technical delivery
  • Significant experience in delivering engineering services for commercial purposes
  • Significant experience in Defence Engineering and global organisations
  • Significant Experience in technology development and integration

Qualifications for the Global Technology Director:

  • Degree in appropriate engineering discipline
  • Chartered Engineer, with Full Membership of appropriate institutions.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role in accordance with the home country rules and regulations.
