Insurance Officer

Location: Mariner House, Dartford

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: Up to £38,000 per annum (salary offered dependant on experience)

What does an Insurance Officer do?

To support the Insurance Manager with the management of effective insurance arrangements, insurance claims management, risk management/insurance advice and service across Moat.



Some of your key tasks will include:

Act as a point of contact and subject matter expert for insurance queries for internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
Effectively manage claims throughout their lifecycle, accurately recording all required data and costs. This includes claims where a third party has arranged the buildings insurance.
Help to validate and maintain complete and accurate insurance data and responsibilities for insuring, property charging and service charge requirements.
Manage the insurance mailbox on a day-to-day basis, ensuring effective prioritisation.
Promote and raise awareness of insurance risks within the organisation
Support the Insurance Manager with the annual insurance renewals & tender process by working with colleagues across the Group in collecting, collating, and submitting all required information.
Supporting colleagues and customers with the insurance implications of a major incident. Maintain positive and effective working relationships with senior managers and staff to enable effective communication, problem-solving, and a supportive environment for all insurance related matters.

To carry out any other duties consistent with the post that may be required from time to time, at the discretion of the line manager.




What are we looking for?

An understanding of managing insurance portfolios for large organisations, supported by experience.
Understanding of risks within a social housing environment.
Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments, both internal and external.
Proficient user of MS Office products, and ability to analyse data.
Commitment to complete professional insurance qualification (Cert CII or higher) within 3 years of joining if not already held (will be sponsored by Moat in accordance with professional learning policy).
Relevant insurance qualification from Chartered Insurance Institute (Cert CII) or similar and evidence of continued professional education / development.


Even better if you’ve got:

Relevant insurance qualification from Chartered Insurance Institute (Cert CII) or similar and evidence of continued professional education / development.
Experience in delivering risk management and assurance activities.
Experience in developing and presenting management information to senior management. and identifying recommendations to address control weakness improvements.
