Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen through collaborations between the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Staffordshire University for a Band 6 trainee health psychologist. The trainee will be based within theRoyal National Orthopaedic Hospitalfor two years and will undertake Stage 2 trainingas a full-time student on theProfessional Doctorate in Health Psychology at Staffordshire University. This role includes outpatient psychological assessment and therapy and contributing towards the psychological component of our inpatient pain management programmes. The post presents a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and professional person who has already completed their Stage 1 health psychology training, to complete competences required for their Stage 2 training at Staffordshire University, directly supported by the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. (Please note that the full-time fees of £6,300 per annum (for home students) and associated writing up fees will be payable from the salary provided).

This role includes outpatient psychological assessment and therapy and contributing towards the psychological component of our inpatient pain management programmes.

We are looking to recruit a trainee health psychologist, who has already completed their Stage 1 health psychology training (with a Merit or above), withexperience in delivering healthcare interventions. This post involves working with people with chronic neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions and also providing advice and consultation on patients’ psychological care to members of the multidisciplinary team.

Job Purpose

Main Duties and Responsibilities
The role includes delivering psychological support in group and 1-1 settings for patients attending the residential pain management programme. The role also includes liaising with key members of the
multidisciplinary team and presenting written reports and feedback.
