Crynodeb
Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care and the implementation and evaluation of those programmes.
Carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision. Teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff as well as patients and their families or carers.
Maintain high standards of care within the department. After 2 years post registration experience the post holder should be able to regularly take charge of the clinical area in the absence of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse or Ward Manager.
Practise according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
Assess care needs for patients, planning, implementing and evaluating care for individual patients.
Ensure nursing care is delivered using an individualised approach.
Ensure that all patients receive a high standard of nursing care.
Participate in the admission and discharge planning process in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
Act as a named nurse for patients.
Ensure that all patient documentation is accurate and comprehensive.
Maintain good communication with all health care staff and ensure prescribed treatment is carried out.
Ensure the safe custody and safe administration of medicines and report any discrepancies.
Complete the Trust’s IV Drug Administration Workbook, and be able to competently administer intravenous medications.
