Part-time Secretary (Dairy Herd Health & Productivity Service)

UE04: Salary range: £24,533 - £27,181 per annum (pro rata for part time)

Open-ended- Permanent contract

Part Time 20 hours a week (currently 9am-1pm, 5 days a week)



The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies is looking for an enthusiastic member of staff to join the small team within the Dairy Herd Health & Productivity Service (DHHPS) providing reception, secretarial and administrative services to veterinary surgeons, agricultural advisors and farmers.

We are seeking a keen and enthusiastic member of support staff to fit within the existing DHHPS team, which consists of 3 veterinary surgeons and one Research Technician. The DHHPS provides an external service to veterinary surgeons, their farmer clients, animal feed manufacturers and farm animal advisors in the UK and other countries. The post holder will provide DHHPS reception, secretarial and administrative services to the staff within the DHHPS, ensuring day-to-day support including typing, filing and photocopying. You will also provide support for ongoing clinical research projects, including input and analysis of data. You will also help cover responsibilities of the Research Technician when away, and so a degree of flexibility is required.


Your skills and attributes for success:

-Good educational background
-Experience in a similar secretarial role
-Excellent audio/typing skills, including use of Dragon Speech-To-Text software
-Pleasant telephone manner and excellent customer service
-Highly competent in the use of Microsoft Office (especially Excel), e-mail, Access database, internet
-Work independently as well as part of the team, and communicate well with colleagues
