Queen’s Hospital Burton has a main theatre suite with 5 operating theatres and an 8 bedded recovery. Most surgical specialties (with the exception of orthopaedics) theatre lists take place here. There is adjacent elective admissions lounge where the majority of patients arrive prior to theatre. There is a specific orthopaedic theatre complex with a trauma theatre and a stand-alone (but on site) Treatment Centre, with 6 operating theatres. The majority of cases anticipated to be day cases are operated on here, including the vast majority of ophthalmic cases. In June 2020 two dedicated Orthopaedics theatres were opened adjacent to the Treament Centre with a 28 bedded ward.

Following a £5 million investment Queens Hospital Burton now has a new fully refurbished Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The Unit has been expanded from 10 to 14 beds (funded for up to 8 Level 3 patients) that also include isolation rooms to treat and rehabilitate acutely unwell patients.
