The Macmillan Acute Oncology Service is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated permanent Band 6. This exciting opportunity is for leaders who thrive in an emergency environment, enjoy fast-paced care, and are passionate about helping us shape the future! You'll need to have skills in leadership, be forward-thinking, innovative, and capable of delegating effectively.

The successful candidate will be joining one of the largest Acute Oncology Units in the country. Our service is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and provides front-door assessments to patients who experience side effects from cancer or its treatments. This exciting opportunity will help you develop the skills to become a UKONS telephone triage nurse, where you will triage patients over the phone and direct them to the appropriate pathways.

You will have the opportunity to take courses such as:

- Provide professional nursing leadership to the team and have excellent communication skills.

- Provide high standards of care for patients, carrying out all aspects of nursing by planning, implementing, and evaluating care.

- Maintain clear and accurate records of observations and treatments, and ensure compliance with UHS policies and standards of the trust.

- Encourage effective working relationships and the development of a cohesive nursing team, working with a common philosophy.

- Stay updated with clinical developments and research findings, initiate changes that benefit the standard of care for patients, and encourage staff to do the same.

- Be skilled in high-level problem solving, organizational skills, and have a positive approach to challenges.

- Take charge of the day-to-day service and coordinate cancer care admissions and inpatient bed flow.

- Be a key member of the MAOS MDT with a common philosophy. Be part of a team dedicated to making a difference for our patients in cancer care.

- Have flexibility in shift patterns.

- Be involved in continuous learning and development with opportunities to attend courses such as the Introduction to Cancer Care, Fundamentals of Cancer Care, and SACT (Systemic Anticancer Treatments).

- Train in and manage the UKONS 24-hour emergency phoneline.

- Hold the staffing bleep for cancer care and be involved in staffing to ensure safe staffing levels.
