Summary


Ophthalmic technician vacancy based at Aintree University Hospital, Elective Care Centre.

Post holder will join our support service team, principally in the glaucoma service, working face to face with patients to acquire a range of diagnostic data to inform clinical staff safe in effective patient management.

St. Paul’s Eye Unit is largest eyecare provider in Cheshire & Merseyside. We operate at Aintree University Hospital and Royal Liverpool University Hospital and hold clinic at satellite centres.

In addition to general ophthalmology we provide full range subspecialty ophthalmology services including: accident & emergency, corneal cataract and refractive surgery, diabetic eye care, glaucoma, ocular oncology, medical retinal and vitreo-retinal. The unit is also actively involved in NHS, academic and commercial research.

The post involves high volume, face to face contact with patients, principally in the glaucoma service acquiring clinical diagnostic data to support and inform clinicians.

The post holder interacts routinely with: patients, administrative, clerical, technical and clinical staff within the Trust and other external stakeholders when necessary.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The post holder will join an established team of support staff and will work directly with patient to acquire key diagnostic data. This includes visual acuity, intraocular pressure, visual fields, pachymetry imaging and others techniques as may be required. Previous experience in an ophthalmic environment would be advantage. However training will be provided.
