We are looking to appoint aSpecialty Registrar (ST3+)in Urology



Bart’s Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK and offers comprehensive service covering the full range of Patients across the Urology Network.

Newham University Hospital is part of the Barts Health Department of Urology services primarily the patients and is one of the designated GIRFT Hubs for High Volume Low Complexity Urological Surgery for the sector of East London for patients from the Homerton Hospital as well as the Barts Health Hospitals.

TheSpecialty Registrarin Urologyposition is for 12 months, working mainly at Newham University Hospital. There is on call commitments included across one of our network hospitals (Whipps Cross Hospital. A pay banding supplement is payable for participation in the on-call rota at middle grade level.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be on the Specialist Register.

The post-holder will be expected to participate fully in the clinical work of the Department, providing high standards of care for both in-patients and outpatients. The duties of the post will support both the Out-Patient activities and in-patient care of patients of the Unit in line with SAC directives regulating SpR training activities and the duties of the posts might change from time to time to reflect those needs.

The Specialty Registrar role include:
• Supporting the Foundation School trainees
• Involvement in Out Patient Clinics
• Involvement in the operating lists
• On call for the management of urological emergencies as part of the Middle Grade Registrar of the Week Rota and out of hours rota. (Out of hours patients are seen initially by the general surgical SHO on-call and referred to the middle grade urology cover who is on-call from home).



There will be the opportunity for experience in:
• urological surgery,
• trans-rectal / trans-perineal prostate biopsy,
• urodynamics
• flexible endoscopy
