You will play an important role in the effective organisation and coordination of the Bereavement Service at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital.

Bereavement Services are the team who work alongside the Medical Examiners team to arrange for the Medical Cause of Death Certificates for our deceased patients to be completed. Bereavement Services speak to and liaise with bereaved relatives and co-ordinate with the Medical Examiners team, the mortuary team, the Coroner's Office, funeral directors and Registrars. As a member of the team you must be computer literate, used to working on the telephone, able to listen and support the bereaved, as well as your colleagues.

If you are a hardworking, empathetic, organised and confident individual, with strong administration/IT skills we would love to hear from you.

You will need to flexible, as you may need to travel to one of the other sites at short notice to cover the service.

The successful candidate will provide a compassionate and understanding service to bereaved families, offering help, support and information to ensure each client receives the Medical cause of Death Certificate for our deceased patients.

The role also includes ensuring deceased’s property is recorded, safely stored and returned to the families, carers or legal representatives.

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 695,000 people.
Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: ‘People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference’.

We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called ‘We care’. It’s about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We’re looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.”
