Summary


We are looking to appoint 2 post CCT Clinical Fellow in Spinal Surgery. Based at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel. There are 13 Spinal consultants including all orthopaedic and neurosurgical sub-specialities. Current elective and trauma facilities are centred at the Royal London within the new hospital, which opened in March 2012 with world-class facilities. The orthopaedic spine fellow post requires the post holder to undertake weekly orthopaedic trauma sessions and take part in the general Senior Tier Orthopaedic On-Call rota.The post will require some outpatient Spine elective clinic and theatre sessions to be at the two other sites based at Whipps Cross or Newham General Hospitals.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be post CCT or within 3 months of obtaining CCT. A special interest in spinal surgery is essential.

General Duties
1. Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in the spinal surgery service, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.
1. Liaison and communication with the Spine Fellowship Co-ordinator, Clinical Lead for Spine Surgery, Network Lead for Spine Surgery, Service Managers and General Manager for Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery.
1. Development of his/her own interests within the specialty complementary to the existing subspecialties of the consultants, including active participation in research programmes.
1. The fellow is expected to present at 2 national or international Spine surgery conferences and complete a peer review publication.
1. Corporate and individual responsibility for the professional management of doctors in training.
