Summary


Bristol Genetics Laboratory (BGL) is looking to recruit a permanent 1.0 and 0.6 Band 3 Admin Assistant. Part time or full time hours considered.

BGL is part of the South West Genomic Laboratory Hub (SW GLH) which is provided by a partnership between North Bristol NHS Trust and the Royal Devon and Exeter Foundation Trust to deliver centralised genomic analysis for patients with cancer and rare disease throughout the South West region.

We are a large, well-equipped laboratory and duties will data entry and updates to sample records including multiple databases and excel spread sheets.

GCSEs in English and Maths grade C or equivalent level are required.

We are recruiting for two posts and the successful candidates will be expected to work either 37½ hours per week full-time (or part-time hours as arranged) or 22.5 hours per week between 08:00 – 18:00 Monday - Friday including Saturdays and bank holidays on a rota basis. Exact working pattern will be confirmed on offer of employment.

The post holder will be expected to have working relationships with the following staff:
• all staff within Genetics and colleagues in Pathology, Suppliers, Personnel/Employment Services, IT Department, Healthcare Professionals and members of the public.

Working with the Administration Team and Genetic technologists to provide:
• Administrative support to Bristol Genetics Laboratory Service
• Administrative support to Senior Staff
• Secretarial support to departmental meetings – to record, prepare and circulate minutes/agenda in association with the meeting’s chairperson.
• Updating the various Laboratory Information Management Systems within procedural guidelines.
