Summary


An exciting opportunity to lead a diverse, dynamic and forward-thinking pharmacy team has arisen.

We are looking for an effective and innovative pharmacy leader to be our Deputy Chief Pharmacist and complement the pharmacy team. The post holder will in conjunction with the Chief Pharmacist, lead on the pharmacy service strategy, prescribing strategy and work closely with the Trusts MSO on the medicine’s safety agenda. The post holder will be expected to work with senior leaders across the Trust and regularly deputise for the Chief Pharmacist across a variety of forums.

You must be able to lead by example, motivate and empower teams to ensure consistently high standards, with a focus on compassionate and inclusive leadership. As a role model and champion for Clinical Pharmacy, the post holder will maintain and lead a profile within Pharmacy, the Trust and into our wider system partners, as well as provide leadership to the wider MDT as lead NMP for the Trust.

We have Trust wide EPMA and are looking to deploy a new EPR system. We have a brand new Omnicell Robot and have relocated to a new department. Key responsibilities of the role will be to:

· To strategically lead and manage the operational delivery of services by the Pharmacy department

· Provide leadership and development to the pharmacy team

· Develop and ensure sustainable delivery of key performance metrics

· Drive the Medicines Optimisation agenda across our wards and clinical areas

· Work in partnership at a Deputy Chief pharmacist level with the wider Trust, external provider and system colleagues

· Deputise for the Chief Pharmacist and report to senior Trust leaders and Executives when required.

JOBOUTLINE1. To support the Chief Pharmacist in all aspects of providing leadership, development, strategy and management of all pharmaceutical services to the Trust
2. To deputise for the Chief Pharmacist in their absence across a range of forums, including externally to the Trust
3. To provide day to day management of the pharmacy team and to line manage the Senior pharmacists, the advanced practitioner pharmacists as need.
4. To be the Non- Medical Prescribing lead for the Trust and implement an NMP strategy. This is a delegated duty from the Chief Nurse/Pharmacist, who has overall responsibility for this
5. To support the Chief Pharmacist in implementing clinical governance by overseeing clinical risk management and providing assurance and compliance to legislation.
6. To oversee designated change management projects in pharmacy. This will include Trust wide initiatives such as EPR and Non- medical prescribing, as well developing new roles for pharmacy across the organisation by liaising with other senior managers in the Trust.
7. To work with the Chief pharmacist to devise KPIs for the pharmacy department and ensure that professional standards are being met.
1. To lead on the Education, Training and development of all staff including senior pharmacists and manager the Teacher Practitioner lead pharmacist .
RESPONSIBILITIES

Management/ Service Delivery
• To support the Chief Pharmacist in allaspects of management of the department and to deputise for the Chief Pharmacist in their absence. This will involve ensuring the smooth running of the department on a day to day basis and that standards of service are maintained, to ensure safe and effective use of medicines throughout the Trust
• To line manage the senior pharmacy team and ensure they are developed, and performance managed appropriately and undertake appraisals against set objectives.
• To collaborate with the Chief Pharmacist ensuring effective use of resources. This will involve workforce planning, skill mix review and implementing new roles, as well as on the review of service impact and implementing service developments.
• To work with the Chief pharmacist to develop, implement and monitor standards for provision of pharmacy services and pharmaceutical care in the Trust. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that relevant policies and standard operating procedures are written for all activities, that these are kept up to date and implemented.
• To work with the Divisional management team and support the Chief Pharmacist in raising a positive profile for pharmacy internally and externally to the ICS
• To support the Chief Pharmacist by being the lead pharmacist in developing, reviewing and aiding the implementation of new advanced roles for pharmacists in the Trust. This will involve working with multi- professional groups within the organisation and with wider workforce planning groups in the Trust.
