We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in SAU. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive and collaborative environment, working alongside our experienced nurses, surgeons and other healthcare professionals.

SAU is crucial to the patients journey and plays a vital role in ensuring timely and effective surgical care for patients. We receive referrals from various sources, including the Emergency Department, GP surgeries and outpatient clinics. Patients present with a wide range of surgical conditions across various specialties, such as general surgery, urology, gynaecology, and more.

Your role will involve assisting in the delivery of a patient-centred, clinically effective, and dynamic service from the patient's initial assessment, admission and discharge. To do this you need to you be caring, compassionate, forward thinking, well organised and have a positive attitude towards flexibility and change.

At the forefront of our leadership vision lies a commitment to fostering a dynamic and innovative SAU team. Our goal is to be a gold standard unit, delivering the highest quality emergency frontline surgical care to every patient. We're a team that thrives on continuous improvement, and your ideas are crucial to our success. Join us and be part of the positive change that shapes the future of our unit!

We will give you the opportunity to develop your skills in order to create new processes that support the unit’s vision. You will need excellent communication skills and require the ability to work autonomously under pressure in this very busy department. As SAU is a 24 hour service you will be expected to work days, nights and weekends.

You should be able to demonstrate a desire for personal and professional development and will be supported by the SAU sisters and the practice development team to meet your individual learning needs and your on-going continuing professional development for which there are many opportunities.

We are an ambitious organisation that upholds our values of kindness, wellness and fairness. We strive for continuous quality improvement, recently demonstrated in our 2024 CQC maternity inspection rating our services as ‘Good’, and we are proud to be a place to learn and grow through recognised learning and apprenticeships.

We recognise and reward our 4,000 staff and volunteers, priding ourselves on a community atmosphere and positive team spirit. We have approx. 530 beds across 33 wards and have newly built education and training facilities, a range of modern award-winning centres alongside a talented team of people ready to give you a warm welcome.
