Summary
Position Overview:
As a Care Worker, you will be responsible for providing compassionate and person-centered care to individuals in need of support, enabling them to live independently and with dignity in their own homes or in residential care settings. You will assist clients with activities of daily living, promote their well-being, and ensure their safety and comfort at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care:
Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing.
Support clients with mobility and transferring, using appropriate techniques and equipment as needed.
Help clients with eating and drinking, ensuring their nutritional needs are met and dietary preferences are respected.
Medication Assistance:
Administer medications to clients as prescribed, following established protocols and safety procedures.
Monitor medication compliance and report any concerns or discrepancies to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate records of medication administration and any observed side effects or reactions.
Household Support:
Provide assistance with light housekeeping tasks, such as tidying living areas, doing laundry, and washing dishes.
Assist with meal preparation, including planning menus, grocery shopping, and cooking nutritious meals tailored to clients' dietary requirements and preferences.
Support clients with maintaining a safe and clean home environment, identifying and addressing hazards or risks as needed.
Emotional Support and Companionship:
Offer emotional support and companionship to clients, engaging in conversation, recreational activities, or hobbies based on their interests and preferences.
Listen actively to clients' concerns and provide reassurance, empathy, and encouragement as needed.
Foster a trusting and respectful relationship with clients, promoting their independence and autonomy while offering assistance when required.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided, including daily logs, care plans, and incident reports.
Document any changes in clients' condition or needs, and communicate relevant information to colleagues and supervisors.
Report any concerns or incidents promptly and follow established procedures for documentation and reporting.
Qualifications and Skills:
Previous experience in a care-related role is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards clients, with a genuine desire to help and support others.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
Reliable, responsible, and adaptable, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
